Summary: Sports, gadgets, graphic design, and all things Boston are just a few of the topics you can read about here. Suffice it to say, if it catches my interest I'll write about it.

As predicted, I didn't get much sleep this past weekend. It seems that when you get to your mid-twenties, you start thinking that there's no way you could pull an all-nighter. Well, I proved myself wrong. The trip to Vegas ended up being one long all-nighter! I can't really complain, though:

  • The group that went totaled about fifteen people, and they were all great guys (friends and coworkers of the bachelor);
  • We scored spots on the guest list at the Rum Jungle2 in Mandalay Bay3 (which cut our wait in line from the usual hour or two to thirty seconds);
  • We literally rubbed elbows with Magic Johnson4 and Jonathan Ogden5 as they passed us on their way to the VIP room at the Rum Jungle (rumor has it Ogden was sporting his Super Bowl ring, which features a diamond-encrusted Raven logo);
  • We stumbled out of the casinos just past sunrise both mornings, which is pretty disorienting when you went out almost twelve hours earlier;
  • We saw Dale Davis6 getting a few drinks at one of the bars in Bellagio;
  • I finally got to see the fountain show at the Bellagio (it didn't compare to Cirque du Soleil's O Show7, but it was still pretty cool).

As much fun as I had, I was kind of disappointed that I missed a few sites like the Shark Reef8 at Mandalay Bay. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to go back again soon!

Wow, I guess it's been a little while since I've added anything new here. I've been running around like crazy trying to get ready for the next few weekends; I'll be in Las Vegas, Toronto and then Seattle. In fact, my flight to Vegas leaves in about twelve hours! Given what time it is now, I'll probably be exhausted before I even get there, but maybe I can catch up on some rest by the pool at the Bellagio9. Unfortunately (or fortunately), there are about fifteen of us meeting there for a friend's bachelor party, so I think sleep is going to be at a premium.

Next weekend Megan and I leave for a full week's vacation. We're going on a roadtrip to Ontario and then flying to Seattle to visit my old college roommate Paul ... it should be fun, but it's a bittersweet vacation. Megan and I have been dating for eight months now, but she's planning to move home to Canada at the end of August. I understand all of the reasons why (after all, they're the same reasons why I want to return to Boston), but that doesn't make things any easier. It's tough to face the fact that I'm losing the best girlfriend I've ever had ... and in some ways losing one of my best friends. Sure, I think we'll always be close and we'll keep in touch, but the distance is going to be really hard at first.

No matter what happens, though, I hope that everything works out for the two of us. And maybe someday, I'll move to Toronto ... Wink

I have to apologize to my faithful readers. I'm trying to put up some promised new pages this week, but I know that I've been slacking off when I get an e-mail like this from a friend:

Your page is a huge tease. It's like my sex life. Coming soon ...

This past weekend, Megan and I got to spend some time together in Back Bay13 (arguably the nicest neighborhood in Boston). We had brunch at Stephanie's14 on Newbury Street15, then went up to the top of the Pru16 to get a bird's eye view of the city. We even went on a Boston Duck Tour17, which might seem like one of those hokey tourist things to do, but we had a great time. Our ConDUCKtor18, named Duckpin19, even taught me a few new things about Boston ... surprising since I've spent the better part of the last twenty years in the city!

If you've ever been in a relationship where you can't seem to agree on a thing, then you'll probably find a little humor reading this English guy's list of Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About20 ... it's pretty damn funny! I'm glad my girlfriends and I tend to get along better than these two.

Got any big plans for the 4th? Tell me about them. Jun and I were planning on going into NYC for our friend Jason's party, but with the pending thunderstorms in the tri-state area I'm not sure I want to do that anymore. Maybe I'll just finish getting the last of my stuff into the new apartment and then take it easy. It's been a tiring week ...

My toe's doing pretty well ... better than I thought, actually. To protect it, I wrapped it with some athletic tape made by Mark's company21. I had a golf lesson this morning with George22 and I thought it would bother me putting weight on it, but luckily it didn't. We'll just have to see how it feels in a day or two.

Alright, I finally gave in. I bought a digital camera.

I've thought about it before ... hell, my Dad got a really cool Nikon23 for his 50th birthday two years ago. Probably the only reason I hadn't bought one up to this point was because I already own a point-and-shoot24 and an SLR25, both of which are nice APS26 cameras. You know what finally got me, though? The convenience.

I wanted to take a picture of my foot right after the sofa sleeper opened on it (so I could share it with you all, of course!) and I knew it would be days before I could get regular film back—nevermind that I would have to finish the roll and I wasn't about to take 20-odd photos of my foot. Anyway, Jun has a digital camera27 and he was kind enough to help out. He even got up close and took the shot for me.

So after doing a little research28 and comparing prices29, I settled on the Canon S11030. Once I get it, you can be sure I'll have more pics to put up here ... and it even records video!
