Harpoon St. Patrick's Day Festival
It's never too early to start celebrating Saint Patrick's Day2, right? Well, Harpoon3 gets things going two weeks early! This is just one of the festivals they throw each year, but it's definitely the last one you'd want to miss.

It looks like someone may be trying to tamper4 with my Guinness ... a British company is trying to cut the traditional wait for a properly poured Guinness from two minutes to about 15 seconds by using ultrasound to release bubbles in the stout, forming the characteristic head instantly. I don't know about you, but I believe that the best things in life are worth waiting for and I hope this doesn't catch on!

I don't get the impression that a lot of people are actually watching the Olympics this year. It seems to me like everyone just tunes in for the medal updates and highlights! If you're a hockey fan, though, then I hope you didn't miss yesterday's games.
Belarus had an upset win over Sweden (which Sweden is now calling the biggest sports disappointment in their nation's history ... ever) and Finland fought a close, although futile, game against Canada (I was on my feet for the final five minutes of the game). Now Canada faces Belarus and the US faces Russia tomorrow, with the winners advancing to the gold medal match on Sunday and the losers competing for the bronze on Saturday. Personally, I'd like to see a Canada-USA final ... and I'd be happy with either team taking the gold.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Being single and all, I think I'm supposed to be all dejected that it's Valentine's Day and I don't have anyone special to spend it with. I don't see it that way, though ... you see, I sent out a few Valentine's cards this year. So instead of having only one Valentine, I could get several. One of my cards arrived yesterday and the lucky lady already called to say she'd be mine, so I guess my little plan is working. ![]()

I hate being sick. It started with a tickle in my throat on Tuesday night, turned into a cough yesterday and added a runny nose today. I never seem to get really sick, but I always get these lingering, annoying germs. Bah.

I didn't make it up to Boston for the Patriot's victory celebration5 today (too many trips already this week), but I was feeling a little sick <cough> so I logged into work from home and watched it on NECN. I can't believe the number of people that turned out despite the cold weather (low 20s F) ... the Boston police department estimated around 1.3 million were in attendance.
During the speeches at Government Center, Larry Izzo (Special Teams Captain) proved he was a true Bostonian by starting a "Yankees suck" chant, Lawyer Milloy and Ty Law validated their status as my favorite players by pumping up the crowd, and Tom Brady demonstrated that despite his looks and luck he still dances like a white boy6.

Jumbalaya baby!
If you don't know what that means, then you're not a fan. But the New England Patriots are Super Bowl XXXVI Champions ... and damn I love the sound of that.
