If you're looking for some cool wallpapers, you may want to take a look at the Blue Marble2. A team of people has been stitching together satellite photos into a seamless, true-color mosaic of the entire planet. My favorite is the nighttime view with all the major cities lit up around the world.

This is an interesting site. A few friends at work have received e-mails from SendACrush.com3 (probably as a joke). You basically sign up, send an anonymous e-mail to someone you have a crush on and if they can correctly guess who sent it then both people will be notified and they make a match. Sounds kind of like seventh grade meets the Internet to me.

These contacts4 are way cooler than my cat eyes ... I bet the bartenders at the Black Rose in Boston will probably have them on this Sunday, since it's one of the best known Irish pubs this side of the Atlantic.

MSN ranked Boston's Saint Patrick's Day parade5 as one of its top ten winter events. Having seen it firsthand, I have to say I agree with them! The best part is that Gunner lives at the very corner that they mention as a prime viewing location, so after his pre-parade party we won't have far to go to catch all the action.

Wow ... I want one of these6! Audi debuted the new RS6 at the Geneva Auto Show last week. My first impression is that they're trying to compete with the BMW M5, which is a pretty tough challenge. Regardless, they'll at least be adding a gorgeous new car to their stable.

This past weekend was a pretty good time. My whole family was in NYC for the Big East basketball tournament, since five of us went to schools in the conference (two to Providence7, two to BC8, and one to Georgetown9). There's a healthy rivalry between us and Dad is the only one who isn't a Big East alum. Since Georgetown competes against his alma mater, Holy Cross10, in Patriot League football, I try to get him to even things up by rooting for Georgetown, though. Anyway, our three teams were knocked out in early play this year, so by the time I made it into the city (on Friday) none of them were left in the tournament. We still saw some exciting games, though, like the semifinal between Pitt and Miami and the final between Pitt and UConn.
We had a few other activities to keep us busy as well. My mom works with one of the Executive VPs of NBC, so he gave her tickets for a studio tour on Friday. Even though it was just the standard tour, we did get to see Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan and Jon Stewart rehearsing skits for SNL. Since they're three of my favorite TV stars, it was cool to see them in person. Speaking of stars, there wasn't any shortage of them at the tournament either. Regis Philbin was sitting behind my parents early on in the tournament (he went to another Big East school, Notre Dame11) and I saw a few more at the final game. Ana and I were just three seats away from a few of the Sopranos and a few rows behind Garry Shandling and the guy who plays Ed (from the NBC show by the same name).
After hours, I also had a chance to go out with my brothers and sister (it was the first time that all of us had gone to a bar together) and to meet up with my old college roommate Scott. I hadn't seen him in months, so we grabbed brunch and hung out Saturday afternoon. Scott was roommates with Phil at Georgetown, so I think we'll probably see him in Boston a little more often after I move in with Phil in a few weeks.

Well, I went to my first Harpoon Brewfest this past weekend. It was basically a big kegger ... I felt like I was back in college! I had a good time, though, and ran into quite a few people from high school, college and work. Marc kept asking who I didn't know. ![]()
My dad managed to pull off the surprise of the (half) century on Saturday, too. While my mom was in Costa Rica and Miami on her scuba diving adventure last week, he rounded up about two dozen of her close friends and planned a surprise party for her 50th birthday. It's not very often that you can pull this kind of thing off with her, so he was pretty excited when Saturday night came around and she had no idea what was going down. My mom promised her revenge, though, when dad least expects it!
