It seems like just last weekend I was writing about how much I love evening thunderstorms (which we're having right now) ... wait a minute, it was just last weekend.

I can't sleep ... so my friends are all getting e-mails from me right now. Might as well be productive, right?

I just received the following fwd:
If you bought $1,000 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth approximately $50. With Enron, you would have about $15 of the original $1000. With Worldcom, you would have less than $5. If you had bought $1,000 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.
Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I can't believe it's after 1.00a and the humidity hasn't let up. In fact, it seems like it's getting worse as it gets later at night ... I went out to dinner in Harvard Square earlier and then wandered around Harvard's campus chatting with a new friend, but the weather didn't seem this bad! I had some great company, though, so maybe I just didn't notice. Anyway, I was just sitting out on my balcony watching some lightning off in the distance and the breeze was pretty refreshing. The lightning was really cool, too; I've always found it relaxing. Back in college, I had a CD with about an hour of thunderstorms on it. Whenever I was having trouble falling asleep I could put it on and I'd pass out in five minutes or less.

I just got back from a nice lunch with Shelley ... I stopped off at her store (Anne Fontaine2) to give her a birthday present that I've been holding onto for a few weeks, so we grabbed a bite to eat at Au Bon Pain on Boylston. The weather is a little humid today, but we sat outside in the shade of the building and it was tolerable. We even spotted a few friends walking back from their lunches and pulled them over to chat for a little. I really enjoyed it!

My sister sent me a link to this great article3 about President Bush and the current state of the economy. The author, Ellen Goodman, doesn't pull any punches in responding to some recent statements made by the "CEO of the United States" that are clearly BS. I don't generally get caught up in party politics, but based purely on the issues I have to agree with most of the commentary, as scathing as it may be.

Earlier this afternoon I returned from a trip to DC for an old college roommate's wedding. I arrived there last Thursday and kicked around Georgetown before the rehearsal, shadowed the groom on Friday to keep him sane, had a blast at the wedding on Saturday and stuck around an extra night to see some old friends in northern VA on Sunday. The wedding itself was incredible, though! I can't say enough about it ... every detail was perfect, the ceremony was a truly classic affair, everyone in the wedding party was amazing and I had one of the best weekends in recent memory. During the course of my visit, I took over 100 photos, which I'm working to put online for everyone to see before the newlyweds return from their honeymoon next week. Keep an eye out!

Last weekend I finally had a chance to meet my good friend Terrence's little baby girl Kyleigh. She's barely two months old and she's a cutie. And from my afternoon with the proud papa and his little girl, it seems to me like she's already got a bit of her dad's personality, too. Congratulations, Terrence!

Wow ... this week's been a non-stop party. Jun, Ben and Ana, among other friends, have all come into town; the 4th went off without a hitch at our place (although the abundance of alcohol contributed to a few "incidents"!); the weather's turned gorgeous today; and we've still got the weekend ahead of us. If I last until next week I already have an awesome selection of photos to put online.

Red Sox great Ted Williams4 passed away today at the age of 83. He was practically deified by the Sox faithful and was known worldwide as Teddy Ballgame.

No one ever taught this guy5 that sometimes you don't want to attract attention to yourself. And this could be the biggest tragedy6 to happen to the poor people of Rhode Island all year.

What time is it?!
I had a bit of "designer's block" this past weekend, but I finally had a breakthrough last night. For about the last week or so, I've been itching to make some subtle changes to the overall design of this site and I think that I accomplished just that. There are still a few loose ends to wrap up (e.g. new banner images and fresh content), but first sleep ...

They're finally getting things ready for the 4th of July ... the fireworks barge was floated into place in front of our apartment this past weekend. You can't beat having front-row seats! And they have a test-run tomorrow night (I think), so we should get to see two shows.
