Tip of the Day
If you're developing a search application for the web and you "suggest" a search term, you should probably make sure that your example returns at least one result. I'm just sayin'.

Inexplicable Fashion Trends
Is anyone else curious where the new "collars up" trend came from? I remember it being cool back in junior high, but I think that was a holdover from the 80s ... an era that will always be mocked for bad fashion (lycra clothing, Hammer pants, and seagull hairdos2, for crying out loud). I've seen more and more twenty-somethings sporting the raised collar recently, which makes an editorial3 that BPaul sent me all the more amusing. I'm not down with wearing collars up!

Tea with Balls
I want to mention that I had a great time at Tuesday's informal gathering of Boston-based designers. It was nice to meet Dan4 and Ethan5 in person, along with plenty of other people interested in design and, um, tea with balls6. There was clearly enough interest to warrant future events ... or at least I hope so! I would guess that about thirty people showed up, from as far away as Providence, RI and Norwalk, CT. In fact, Ethan compiled a decent list7 of attendees who have their own websites. Take a look, if you have a chance.

Busy Busy
Well, aside from trying to organize several hundred photos from my recent trip, things have been non-stop recently. I earned an unexpected break this past weekend when flight plans to NH didn't quite work out (my brother, the pilot, was going to dump me in Laconia for Mark's housewarming BBQ on Lake Winnepe-however-you-spell-it). I'm heading to CT and NYC this weekend, though, for a last hurrah with Jun before he moves back to San Francisco, and then hopefully making my first trip to Martha's Vineyard to check out Lizz's place the following weekend. Filling in the gaps, I'm about to launch a new site for a friend who's getting married next month and helping another e-commerce site get off the ground. There's also a little web design roundtable8 in Boston tonight, which I'm eager to attend. A few guys I look up to organized the event, so it will be cool to sit down and hash things out with them.
Anyway, I've got some other big things I'm working on, so there's a chance I'll be MIA now and then. You'll soon reap the benefits, though, with plenty of photos and other goodness to enjoy. Until then ...
