JackHoya: Legal Stuff

Summary: I wish we could simply trust people to do the right thing, but here's my guarantee.

Privacy Policy

I value personal privacy and will never compromise anyone's intentionally. If you voluntarily choose to comment on this website or to contact me by any means, I will protect your information to the best of my abilities. If you receive a link from a friend via this website, I will likewise treat your personal information with the same respect. I will never sell personal information for profit or use it for my own nefarious ends, such as free movie tickets. However, please do not hesitate to contact me if you discover your name, photo, or likeness on this website and would like it removed.

Please note, I provide many links to third party websites. When following these links, I encourage you to review the privacy policies posted on all third party websites, as I do not control them. I also reserve the right to change or update this policy at any time without notice. All updates to this policy will be posted here, so you should visit this page from time to time to review the then–current terms.

Acceptable Use

A lot of time and hard work goes into a website. I encourage you to take a peek at my code and put any insights to good use2, but please do not copy the design or elements of this website carte blanche. If you have any questions or concerns, your best bet is to contact me and ask about your intended use.

That being said, designers tend to find inspiration in unusual places. If you have influenced me in some way, shape, or form, I may have contacted you to say thanks and perhaps, if appropriate, to ask for your blessing in regard to my derivative work. If I have made use of your intellectual property without proper attribution, though, I apologize in advance and encourage you to contact me so that we can resolve the situation amicably.

Comments

This is my website and my Mom reads it, so it must be held to a higher standard. To that end, I reserve the right to remove offensive or irrelevant text or, if necessary, to delete a comment in its entirety. Otherwise, comments belong exclusively to their respective contributors and do not reflect the attitudes, opinions, or beliefs of anyone else.

The following guidelines are for your benefit and come courtesy of Dave Shea3, who did a much better job writing them than I could have.

Keep it clean.
Foul and offensive language will be edited.
Play nice.
Personal attacks will be edited.
Stay on topic.
Relevant diversions will be tolerated, perhaps even encouraged. Try sticking to the topic of the post, though.
Contribute something.
Quality over quantity. Say something important; add value to the discussion. One-line replies may be deleted. The goal of the comments is to spur conversation, not promote sycophantism.
Don't advertise.
This site wasn't set up for my personal profit, why should it be here for yours?
